Peter began his service at LAC in the spring of 2021, having previously served as the senior pastor of three churches: Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in South Carolina, First Presbyterian Church of Concord, NC, and First Presbyterian Church of Rocky Mount, NC. Upon graduation from Davidson College in 1991, Peter worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for several years. Noticing that many of the most exciting jobs in public policy were held by attorneys, he enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Law and earned his J.D. in 1996. He then spent the next ten years practicing commercial real estate law. Over that time, as his commitment to lay ministry deepened, Peter sensed God’s call to full-time service in the church. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA (2009) and later earned a Doctorate in Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in 2017. Peter’s wife Stephanie is a UNC Tar Heel with a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University, and they have two daughters: Molly (18), who is a first year student at Columbia University, and Kate (15), who is currently in 9th grade.
