A Learning Church: Expanding Knowledge and Deepening Faith
Christian Education is not just for kids! The capacity to grow is lifelong and our Church is a place where we can derive support and encouragement from others, try to make sense of our life experiences, and learn the meaning that our lives can have.
Through the efforts of our pastor and the Adult Education Committee, Larchmont Avenue Church (LAC) offers various opportunities for adults to expand their knowledge and deepen their faith through Bible study, a book group, topical programs, and more
Men’s Bible Study
The Men’s Bible Study will continue to meet on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. (Lindsley Room) and is led by LAC member Arthur Washington. Men’s Bible study typically resumes in September.
The group starts with a topic of interest. Brief reading materials (e.g., articles, news stories and Bible verses) are often circulated in advance, but the homework is optional. The discussions are vibrant, supported by the varied backgrounds, ideologies, and perspectives of the participants. All adult men are welcome! Women’s Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study triumphantly returned to LAC in the Fall of 2024 and meets the first Tuesday of each month (at both 11 am). The 2026/27 Bible Study begins in October begins Tuesday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. The group is inclusive and welcoming. We would love to have you!
The theme this year is “United Through Christ, Bound to Each Other,” which focuses on Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth. The authors of this year’s study book summarize the topic as follows: This Bible study explores the letter’s setting, divisions within the congregation, and ultimately, the gifts given to all through the work of Christ. Readers will be fascinated by this journey to Corinth and will explore how Paul’s timeless message of loving unity calls Christ’s followers today.
