The Sharing Shelf collects gently-used clothing and redistributes it to children from infancy to age 19. Volunteers will sort new and used clothing at The Sharing Shelf in Port Chester. Ages 15 and up. Site leader: Pat Allen
H.O.P.E. provides hunger relief to a diverse client population out of their New Rochelle location. Volunteers will clean and organize the food pantry and refrigerator. Ages 10 and up. Site leader: Clark Morehouse
The Community Resource Center provides new immigrant families with tools to become self-sufficient and active members of the community. Volunteers will clean and repaint the lower level of the main building on Center Avenue. Ages 17 and up. Site leader: Barbara Flickinger, Kim Christiansen
Co-Op Summer Enrichment, led by the STEM Alliance, is our community’s only summer enrichment program for low-income youth. Volunteers will help make group signs for camper groups. Ages 10 and up. Site leader: Meg Käufer
The Bridge Fund aims to prevent homelessness among the working poor. Volunteers will paint a small conference room and organize the emergency food pantry. Ages 12 and up. Site leader: Kim Larsen
Bridges to Community promotes service learning and community development by bringing volunteers to work in developing countries. Volunteers with good penmanship will work at LAC addressing envelopes for their fundraising gala. Ages 14 and up. Site leader: Jim Allen
At Home on the Sound provides its members with the assistance they need to continue to live confidently at home as they age. Volunteers will staff an in-person help desk to assist seniors with using their laptops, iPads/iPhones or Kindles, creating a Facebook profile, online shopping, or Facetiming. Ages 14 and up. Site leader: Rob Hitchings.
For families with young children, we can use your help right here at LAC. Volunteers will sort & organize nursery toys, catalog books in Christian Ed office, make greeting cards for homebound. All ages. Site leader: Chrystal Chambers
