Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry

"Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity...

do not neglect the gift that is in you..."  (1 Timothy 4:12 & 14)

Youth are a vital part of the ministry and mission of LAC.  Through worship, fellowship and service, we empower youth to become faithful disciples.  We invite all middle school or high school youth to come and be a part of the LAC community.

Worship: We hope that every youth will feel welcome and a part of our Sunday morning worship services at 10 am.  Sunday School is offered for middle school youth through 8th grade, where they will discuss questions of faith and study Presbyterian church history.  High school youth are invited to be a part of our adult worshipping community, remaining in worship for the entirety of our service.  Youth with musical interests and talents are encouraged to share those gifts during worship, through singing, playing instruments, readings or through skits or dance.  As worship is the central act of our community, we hope that all youth feel welcome to participate fully in our service.

Fellowship:  Fellowship is an important part of our time together.  Middle School (TGIF) and High School (SHIFT) meet twice monthly for a time of fun, games, and discussion about faith, as well as to work on regular service projects.  Each time we gather we share a meal and learn to live out our faith together.

Service:  Both TGIF and SHIFT are committed to living out a life of service.  TGIF service projects include fundraisers for one or two special causes chosen each year.  We participate in the set up for the youth Midnight Run each year, and we regularly bag groceries at the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force - a local food bank.  SHIFT service projects include going on the Midnight Run, An international mission trip to nicaragua, as well as short and longer mission trips in the domestic US.
