The Rev. Elizabeth Smith-Bartlett has served as Associate Pastor of the Larchmont Avenue Church since August 2015. Elizabeth was born and raised in Denton, Texas (north of Dallas/Ft. Worth), and received her B.A. in Religion with a minor in English from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where she was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She then earned the Master of Divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, receiving the First Presbyterian Church of Hammond (LA) Award for Excellence in Preaching and Worship.

After seminary, Elizabeth worked as a chaplain resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she primarily offered pastoral care to patients, families and staff in cardio-thoracic intensive care and step down, kidney/liver transplant, and pediatric oncology and respiratory units, as well as weekly on-call care for the entire hospital. She has completed four units (Levels I and II) of Clinical Pastoral Education. She then served at The Congregational Church of New Canaan (CT) as Director of Service Ministries, coordinating service opportunities for the entire congregation. Prior to coming to Larchmont, she was Minister of Formation and Nurture at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, NY; her role at Hitchcock focused on Christian education, youth ministry, and mission. Elizabeth was ordained by Grace Presbytery as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in 2012. She currently serves as chair of Hudson River Presbytery’s Committee on Preparation for Ministry, which accompanies inquirers and candidates as they discern calls to ministry and prepare for ordination. She is a member of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators.

Elizabeth’s role at LAC includes youth ministry (middle school, confirmation, and high school), preaching and worship, pastoral care, and mission.

Elizabeth is married to the Rev. Jonah Smith-Bartlett, who is the Youth and Family Minister at the Reformed Church of Bronxville, NY and ordained by the American Baptist Church. They were adopted by two cats, Hal and Ollie.

Elizabeth enjoys vegetarian cooking, reading (preferably on a good porch), conversation over coffee, strength training, and yoga. She is learning to garden and blogs intermittently at www.elizabethsmithbartlett.com.
